There are 4 main groups of silicones
1 one part silicones...Bath sealants etc
2 Heat cure silicones
3 Tin cure silicones...... common moulding silicone
4 Platinum cure silicones...... moulding, tooling silicone.

Tin cure silicones are the most commonly used group of silicones used in general mould making. Good chemical resistance to polyester resin, polyurethane resins, concrete casts, wax casts, low melt metal casts, and plaster casts. Once cured this type of silicone can shrink.

Platinum cure silicones have low shrinkage and are ideal for tooling moulding. In general are less resistance against chemicals that are in polyester and polyurethanes and lime rich cements but are silicones that will last for years when stored. Resinwizard
